Breast Augmentation (also known as Breast Enlargement/Breast Enhancement)
Contrary to popular belief the most common reason for breast enhancement surgery is not simply an increase in the size of the breasts but rather an improvement in shape and symmetry. In fact, most women who talk to our consultants about breast enhancement want to talk about shape. Fixing sagging breasts or restoring shape and definition lost after having children are two of the most common reasons why women consider breast enhancement surgery. This popular procedure is delivered as a day case procedure whereby you come in for your surgery in the morning and will be recovered and ready for discharge in the afternoon. Delivered under general anaesthetic surgery takes between 1-2 hours and involves the surgeon making cuts to the skin to make way for breast implants that are placed over or under the muscles in the chest.
Breast Uplift (Mastopexy)
Breast uplift is another common procedure delivered as a day case procedure for women whose breasts may have begun to droop or sag for a variety of reasons - typically experienced post pregnancy or through breastfeeding. The surgery delivered under general anaesthetic involves the reshaping of the breasts from the removal of excess skin and stitching to reposition the breasts into a more natural or desired position. It is common to have an uplift combined with an augmentation procedure to enhance volume and shape and this is known as a mastopexy augment.
