When you telephone to make an initial appointment you will be asked some questions with regards to your injury and / or condition. This is so you can be seen by the most appropriate physiotherapist, as not all physiotherapists have the same skills and some have expertise in certain conditions, thus allowing you to receive the best care possible for your problem.
What should I bring or wear?
To aid the physiotherapist in their assessment it is ideal if you could bring a list of any major surgery or illness that you have had and when, and previous significant medical conditions or episodes and details on any current medical condition including a list of your current medication and investigations that you have had.
Bring with you or come wearing clothes that you can easily remove as you will be asked to underdress to a certain level to allow access to and exposure of the affected area. For example, wearing or bringing with you shorts or loose fitting trousers for assessment and treatment of a lower limb condition, or a slim vest top for assessment of the shoulder region or neck.
If you are unsure, please ask when you make the appointment.
Can I bring someone with me when I attend my appointment?
You are more than welcome to bring someone with you when you attend your appointment. If you require a chaperone when you attend please can you inform the department 24 hours prior to attending your appointment so this can be arranged.
What happens if I did not attend?
We require 24 hours notice for cancellation of appointments otherwise you will be charged the full rate for your missed appointment. Please be aware if you are late for your appointment it will result in a shorter treatment time so as not to impact other patient’s appointment slots.
