Inpatients Physiotherapy
Whilst you are an inpatient either as an overnight stay patient on the ward or admitted to the day unit; you may be be offered physiotherapy as part of your care package. The physiotherapist will follow the guidelines from your surgeon to support you in a full and speedy recovery.
The care that you may be given could range from advice on how to mobilise after your foot or knee surgery and may include simple exercises for you to commence on your return home from the day unit. If for example, you choose to have a total hip or knee replacement at Tees Valley Hospital. You will see the physiotherapy team regularly during your stay on the ward to help you increase your independence.
Our regular interventions will help you feel confident with the exercises which you will continue with once you are discharged home. We offer patients comprehensive advice and exercise leaflets for your information and for you to follow when discharged home and to answer any questions that you might have.
Your surgery may require outpatients physiotherapy. This will be determined by your surgeon. You will be supplied with an outpatients physiotherapy appointment on discharge from the day unit or ward.
